Is It Sunday Already?...

Time for the Weekly Word Ressurection again! The weekend sure passes quickly, I must say.

The WWR is a good one as I'm sure that everyone knows at least one person they could describe with this word. One might think that this is pertaining to intimacy, but lets not get carried away.

Sexagenarian - adj. noun - (person) one who is between sixty and seventy years old.

So, technically my parents are (gasp!) sexagenarians! Oh my!

Another test pic...

I did it!!!!
After checking the forum at Blogger, it seems it was not only me that has had trouble posting photographs.
This makes me very happy since I can post away now. (Will the bubble burst? Stay tuned...)

So this is a pic of my daughter modelling some of my recent work. Sorry for the dark photo, it was really an impromptu shoot.

The dress is a halterdress and the totematches with its vintage ribbon handles. The turquoise print is a vintage sheet that I repurposed and I absolutely love this pattern.

I will be sad when I run out of it because its my fave at the moment. I will have some momentos of it as I have used the scrap pieces to make some cute little pincushions with vintage button details. I'll post pics soon but they are the typical circular flowery type with embroidery floss.

I love sewing. My girl is starting to get into it to and she's always wanting to make little things for her dolls and stuffies. She even has her own little sewing machine that I picked up for her thrifting one day. For $5 I couldn't resist and she sure was thrilled to bits. She always says she wants to be a sewer & designer, "Just like Mom!" Precious!

I'm on a roll...

So here's another word that I happened upon. I had never heard this used even though I come from British heritage. I say this since it seems like a word that would sound totally normal coming from a Brit with those charming accents. I would love to know if anyone has heard anybody in the not so recent past use this word. Anyway, here it is.

Masher - noun; A male flirt.

I love my dictionary.

That's really sad. I need to get out more. Maybe I'll run into a masher sometime soon and that will be enough to make my day.

One can dream, I suppose.

Photograph.....?

So I have a few minutes. This photo thing doesn't seem to be working for me.
Why?
If anyone is actually out there and uses Blogger, any hints on why my pictures never want to post? It looks like it's going to work after I do it all right (I'm guessing) and then......nothing.
And to top it off, Blogger doesn't seem to respond to any queries via email.
Any help would be appreciated.

Another WWR

I almost got this one posted yesterday. Not enough hours in the day I guess. So here is the WWR for this week.

Syncrasy - noun; A blend of different things.

I think that this is a word that one can use in the place of the French word melange.
"The buffet consisted of a sycrasy of delicious treats."
or maybe...
"My craft room is a syncrasy of creativity."

There are many uses for this word. I wonder why it isn't used anymore? I wonder why , when they are printing up new versions of dictionaries, they decide to not include certain words and not others. If anyone knows of the criteria used for these decisions, please let me know.

So there's my WWR post. I still haven't figured out how to post a photo yet. When I get a few extra minutes.

I Know It isn't Sunday, But...

Thursday, March 16, 2006

Okay, it's not Sunday, I know this. I haven't posted in a while because there have been some major changes in my life that have kept me too busy to post.
I have started 2 new jobs, both in the same week so there has barely been any adjustment time for me or my kids.

Since I have been lax I will just go into the WWR despite the fact that it is a Thursday.

WWR:
Puerile - adj. 1. Pertaining to childhood 2. Immaure or foolish; as a puerile remark; a puerile display of temper.

I could use this word on a daily basis since i do actually have children. I'm sure anyone reading this could also think of a few ways to use this word if they really tried. So go ahead.....In the puerile manner of Horshack, "I dares ya"...
(I hope that was the correct usage!)

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all for tomorrow, in case I don't get the time to post.
And to two of my old friends who will probably never read this ever, Happy Birthday to Kim and James. With fond memories of you both.
